What is a Christian?

'I am telling you the truth: those who believe in me will do what I do---yes, they will do even greater things, because I am going to the Father. '

What is a Christian?

Most people would say someone who believes in God and Jesus. The Bible would agree, but we're not asking the real question. The real question demands a much greater response.

What does it mean to believe?

Most people would say it means thinking that they exist and maybe acknowledging them from time to time. The Bible goes much further! Believing in Jesus means to do the works he did. To show God's power and authority over every area of life. To point to God in every single action, giving him the credit. And not by silent works. Jesus always used his actions to reinforce his message. To tell people the good news that He is the saviour we've all been waiting for. To tell them that it is possible to be right with God again and enjoy all the benefits of that relationship. To set people free from all the things that enslave them. That is what it means to be a Christian. To become more like Christ in every way. Sitting back and living a normal life is not an option. Acknowledging him every now and again does not a believer make.

If I really believe in Jesus then my every act must be wrought in His power and direction.
